The very first IQAir Air Cleaners were introduced for the first time in
Europe in 1998 and in a short time gained an great reputation for having
world class performance and Swiss precision technology. In September of
that year IQAir was named to be one of the best air
cleaners by Stiftung Warentest, Europe’s top product testing
organization. IQAir systems were introduced to North America in the year
2000 and soon became one of the best selling air purifiers for the home

IQAir air purifiers were the first and only systems on the market that
used H 12/13 class HEPA filters in their units in 2000. This type of
filtration was usually only seen in the big multi-million dollar clean
rooms found in hospitals. The same filters passed the European Norm EN
1822 HEPA filtration test where the filter must detain up to 100 times
more particles than the normal HEPA filters that are out on the market.
These Air Cleaners remove up tiny particles at 0.01 microns and are
nearly 99 percent effective in purifying the air. IQAir Cleaners were
used in clean rooms when there was an outbreak of SARS in 2003. SARS is
an extremely transmittable airborne virus that has not precise cure as
of now. After many trial runs by Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HKHA),
IQAir Cleaners were the choice to be used in hospital rooms that
contained SARS patients.
In 2004 one of the air cleaners by IQAir North America, Inc. was
registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Class II
medical device. IQAir is also partners with the American Lung
